• Before the registration the controller refer the application to the examiner for examination as to whether this design is capable to satisfy the criteria of the design registration act 2000 or not and the controller consider the report of the examiner.
• The application must be made in the prescribed form and with the prescribed fees.
• The representation sheet of the article is also to be filed along with the application form.
• For the purpose of the registration of the design, the articles are classified in to 31 classes and a miscellaneous class is 99.
• A design is to be registered in not more than one class, when a design application is for an article with multiple utilities , the applicant may be made with depiction of an article in any one or more of the utilities.
• As pre the examination report of the examiner the controller will provide the registration certificate. If the controller founds any objections adverse to the applicant or the application required some amendments, a statement of objection shall be communicated the applicant.
• If the applicant fail to comply with the objections or fail to comply for a hearing within 3 months from the date of communication shall be deemed to be withdrawn.
• After submission of all the correct documents, the examiner will re examine all the things after that the controller shall issue the registration certificate.

COPYRIGHT IN DESIGN AND DURATION:
The registered proprietor of the design can enjoy all the rights for the period of 10 years. The registered proprietor can extend the time period not more than 5 years by the way of filling application with the prescribed fees before expiry of the 10 years.
